​2021 was a hard year, perhaps even harder than 2020’s consistent output of misery and dismay; it was exhausting to endure another year of half-measures and starts-and-stops. But through it all, we had artists to turn to, creative people who sparked our minds, hearts, and souls. We had the music of a whole new generation blaring through our car speakers, we had games that captured our attentions and imaginations, we had podcasts that helped us cope with the moment and learn about other interesting developments or histories, we had shows that understood us and shows we understood, and of course through it all, we had movies.
